Executive PG Program

1. What are the criteria for claiming exemption from IBSAT?
There is no exemption from IBSAT. All the candidates interested in taking admission to the Executive PG program of IBS have to appear for IBSAT.
GMAT-SCORES
2. I appeared for GMAT in recent past. Can I apply with my GMAT score instead of taking IBSAT?

Yes you may apply with your GMAT score. Candidates with GMAT score of 550 and above from 2005 onwards are exempted from appearing for IBSAT. For complete details you may visit out website www.ibsindia.org

3. What is the last date of application with the score of GMAT?

The last date of application with the GMAT score is December 20, 2008.
EXECUTIVE PG PROGRAM VS. REGULAR PG PROGRAM

4. How does the IBS program compare with 1-year program of other institutes?

No two programs are alike and therefore cannot be strictly compared. Every program has its own merits. IBS has been offering management/business education for over 20 years and today it is ranked among top 10 B-schools in the country.

5. What are the key qualitative features of the program?

The program offers contemporary curriculum and courseware.

It is fully residential and offered in our new 90-acre state-of-the-art campus on the outskirts of Hyderabad. With its general management focus, wide range of electives and case-based learning, the students are exposed to local and global perspectives by a team of industry-experienced faculty from IBS as well as well-known international institutes.

6. Apart from saving one year, what are the other benefits of pursuing the Executive PG Program?

The most obvious benefit of Executive PG Program is learning from the peer group as the other candidates will also have a work experience of three years and above.

Special sessions are offered for leadership training to develop leadership skills. Candidates are also encouraged to work on real life situations in business organizations as consulting projects and get appropriate credits. Candidates will also have opportunity to interact and learn from industry leaders and international faculty drawn from some of the best B-schools. In addition to the above, we all know that time is money. If you save one year you can save an opportunity cost by way of one-year salary. Thus for candidates, with the necessary experience, the one year Executive PG Program will be too good an opportunity to miss.

7. Can you briefly tell me, how the 1-year Executive PG Program is different from the 2-year Regular PG Program?

As the name itself indicates the 1-year Executive PG Program is meant for candidates with work experience of 3 years and above in an executive position, whereas the 2-year PG Program is mainly meant for fresh students, generally without any work experience. Basically both the programs cover almost same subjects in the area of business management. However, the Executive PG Program is more intensive because of the greater levels of maturity of the candidates. Hence the same subjects are covered within one year, without any compromise in the program structure. The pedagogy used in the Executive PG Program is more oriented towards the case studies, faculty-student interactions, role-plays, industry interface and other interactive processes. The focus is more on practical applications rather than a pure theory. Keeping in mind the candidates background of work experience, we have designed the class-room interactions at a different level to draw from the experience of the candidates. In the Executive PG Program great emphasis is given to the peer-learning.

8. As the Executive PG Program is only for one year instead of the normal two years for the regular PG Program, is there any abridgement/curtailment of any courses?

First of all, it has to be understood that the 2-Year PG Program is actually of 18 months duration only and not 24 months. The 4 semesters of the 18 months program are now compressed into 8 terms (of 6 weeks each) in 12 months on a practically non-stop basis. Thus the Executive PG Program is obviously a more intensive program compared to the 2-year PG Program. About 4 months of summer internship is not there for Executive PG Program, as the candidates already have work experience of three years and above.

There is also another way to look at the whole thing. A typical MBA Program in a good American business school (as per the AACSB norms) requires a minimum of 45 credit hours divided into approximately 15 courses of 3 credit hours each. It translates into 720 hours of classroom instruction and interaction. In the Executive PG Program the candidates will have total contact hours of 1080 (for 24 courses). Thus the Executive PG Program is at least 50% more in content when compared to a standard MBA Program in a good American B-School.

On the top of all these things, all candidates who are admitted into the Executive PG program are required to go through a preparatory self-study module before they attend classes from 1st May on the campus.

Thus there will be no compromise, abridgement or curtailment of any of the courses in Executive PG Program compared to Regular PG Program.

MBA DEGREE

9. How do I get an MBA degree?

On completion of the Executive PG Program, you will be awarded a course completion certificate by IBS Hyderabad. However, students of the Executive PG Program are encouraged to simultaneously pursue the MBA Program of the Icfai University, Dehradun, as private candidates. As the curriculum for the PG Program is in alignment with the requirements of the MBA curriculum of the Icfai University, Dehradun, students will find it relatively more convenient to simultaneously pursue the MBA Program also and complete the same, subject to University regulations. On successful completion of the on-line MBA Program, you will be awarded MBA degree by the Icfai University, Dehradun.

For instance currently the banking and financial service industries as well as KPOs are normally paying much higher compensation than the consumer product industry.
